My Favourite Part of Australia
Posted on November 10th, 2008 at 8:26 pm by kimberley and

My favourite part of Australia is Melbourne. There are plenty of educational things to do there like; visit the aquarium, the museum, the zoo, IMAX theatre, and lots more. Melbourne has great shopping, and a lot of good night spots like pubs and clubs. There is always something to do when you’re there.

Terrorist attacks in Australia…
Posted on November 10th, 2008 at 7:46 pm by kimberley and

We don’t really have any terrorist attacks in Australia. We have had people that have made plans to bomb areas here but the people involved were caught before the plans could be carried out. When a nightclub in Bali was a bombed 88 Australians were killed. The terrorist’s responsible have been executed. But people there are afraid of retaliation attacks from the executed bombers supporters. So Australians are affected by terrorism.

United Foods
“Welcome to Students from Hawksdale College in Australia.”

For those of you reading this, I have a question for you. What are some of your favorite foods that are a part of your countries culture? Are there certain foods that you would only eat at a certain time of year? Lastly, are there any native foods still being eaten in your country? Since I am from the U.S.A most of our food came from another country, because most of our ancestors came over from countries on the other side of the world. Therefore, most of the foods that I like are not necessarily American, unless you count mac and cheese. During the summer I tend to eat more fruit (because it is in season), while in the winter I eat more “hot” foods (since it is very cold). In the USA we still eat corn which was brought up from the Indians, but as i stated before most foods aren’t considered American so not many native foods are still eaten here. Now, it’s your turn to tell me some of your favorite foods from your country.

My Response…
We eat vegimite on toast its  black, I have no idea how they make it though haha.. we are also famous for our barbeques. We barbeque steak, sausages, chops, and chicken. We mostly have barbeques outside when the weather is good.

Illegal Immigration
Posted on October 12th, 2008 at 8:04 pm by kimberley and

Does Australia have illegal immigrants? Yes we do

Who are they? Alot are from Malasia, Indonesia, China, Iraq and Afghanistan

Why do they come to Australia? To work, make money, ascape wars and other bad things happening in their own country

How does Australia deal with illegal immigrants? They are ussually put in detention centres, they are allowed to aply for Australian citizenship, they still have to stay in the detention centres until the citizen ship is aproved. People who can’t get citizen ship are sent back to their country and aren’t aloud back to Australia.
